The Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari approved the establishment of Arthur Jarvis University together with 7 other Universities at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on wednesday 2nd November, 2016.

This approval makes Arthur Jarvis University the first private University in Cross River State.

Arthur Jarvis University is located less than 20 minutes drive away from Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar. The serene environment and natural ambience is superlatively conducive for teaching and learning.

Arthur Jarvis University is starting full academic activities with 2016/2017 academic session and a call for application for admission into 25 degree programmes in 15 Departments within 3 Faculties at start-up.

Arthur Jarvis University is relished with adequate infrastructural facilities like exquisite hostel accommodation and staff quarters, conducive full multimedia lecture rooms, well equipped laboratories, sports and recreation facilities, cafeteria, medical centre, multipurpose hall, standard library, sufficient campus security, well-furnished offices, state-of-the-art ICT facility and other basic amenities.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS of Arthur Jarvis University

Candidates seeking entry into Arthur Jarvis University should

  1. Normally have attained the age of 16 years as at the date of admission.
  2. They should also have a minimum of ‘Credit’ pass in at least five relevant ‘O’ Level subjects at no more than two sittings in either the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level Examination,
  3. West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE),
  4. National Examination Council (NECO) or National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) for the programme in which they seek admission.

Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences in Arthur Jarvis University

Biological Sciences (B.Sc. Biology and B.Sc. Microbiology)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in either B.Sc. Biology or B.Sc. Microbiology should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or mathematics and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Biology and B.Sc Microbiology in the University, he/she must have a minimum of  Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any other science subject (Physics or Agricultural Science) with at least a pass in Physics for B.Sc. Biology and at least a credit in Physics for those seeking admission into B.Sc. Microbiology

Chemical Sciences (B.Sc. Chemistry and B.Sc. Biochemistry)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in either B.Sc. Chemistry or B.Sc. Biochemistry should meet the following:

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Chemistry must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or Biology and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • Applicants for B.Sc. Biochemistry must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Chemistry or B.Sc Biochemistry in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Mathematics and Computer Sciences (B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Computer Science)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in either B.Sc. Mathematics or B.Sc. Computer Science should meet the following:

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Mathematics must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Biology and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • Applicants for B.Sc. Computer Science must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Physics and any one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science or Economics, and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the acceptable standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Mathematics in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Additional/Further Mathematics or Biology.
  • For a candidate who has attained the acceptable standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Computer Science in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two acceptable science subjects.

B.Sc. Physics
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.Sc. Physics should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Physics in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other science subject (example Further Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science).

Earth Sciences (B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Applied Geophysics)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in either B.Sc. Geology or B.Sc. Applied Geophysics should meet the following:

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Geology must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology or any other relevant science subject and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • Applicants for B.Sc. Applied Geophysics must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Biology and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the acceptable standard in the UTME to be registered for either B.Sc in Geology or B.Sc. Applied Geophysics in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Languages and Linguistics (B.A. English)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.A. English should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Literature in English, one other art subject and one art, social science or science subject and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.A. English in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Literature in English, and any other art, social science or science subjects.

Accounting and Banking & Finance (B.Sc. Accounting and B. Sc. Banking & Finance)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.Sc. Accounting or B.Sc. Banking & Finance should meet the following:

  • Applicants for B.Sc. Accounting must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other social science subject and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test.   • Applicants for B.Sc. Business Administration (B.Sc. Business Administration and B. Sc. Entrepreneurial Studies)
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.Sc. Business Administration or B.Sc. Entrepreneurship Studies should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other social science subject and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test. For such candidates who have attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects.

B.Sc. Economics
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.Sc. Economics should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Economics and either Government, History, Literature in English or CRK/BK and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Economics in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two other social science subjects.

B.Sc. Political Science
Candidates seeking admission into the 100 level of the four year-degree programme in B.Sc. Political Science should meet the following:

  • Applicants must write UTME and attain an acceptable score in the use of English, Mathematics, Government or History and any two Social Science or Arts subjects and further obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University post-UTME screening test;
  • For a candidate who has attained the benchmark standard in the UTME to be registered for B.Sc Political Science in the University, he/she must have a minimum of Credit pass in English Language, Government or History and any other three relevant subjects from Social Sciences and/or Arts.

2016/2017 Session Admission Guidelines/Procedure for Arthur Jarvis University

All applicants seeking undergraduate admission into 100 Level in Arthur Jarvis University are hereby invited to apply online for the 2016/2017 Session Admission.
Applications must be from suitably qualified candidates who have attempted the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and have scored 180points and above.
Applicants are also expected to possess minimum entry requirements of five (5) O’ Level Credits in relevant subjects at one or two sittings in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB and fill in the same results online. Applicants are advised to confirm the Admission Requirements into respective Degree Programmes
