The latest deportation is coming barely 48 hours after 40 Nigerians were deported for the same crimes from Italy. Recall that it is also barely a week when another batch of 23 Nigerians were equally repatriated from United Kingdom for similar offences.

Daily Sun learnt that the latest deportees comprised 47 males and three females and arrived the country about 7.45am.

Three of the deportees were repatriated for drug related issues while 47 others were expelled for other immigration related offences.

“Some of the 47 returnees either entered the European countries through fake documents, illegal channels were others overstayed in the countries after the expiration of their visiting visas,” a source at the Lagos airport told Daily Sun.

On arrival,  officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) had to first profile the deportees to ascertain that they were Nigerians. Those with criminal offences were handed over to Nigeria Police for further prosecution and the rest were allowed into the country to head to their states of origin.
